Thanksgiving

Heather and I made a long road trip for Thanksgiving this year- over 1200 miles in all.

It started with a drive to my parent's place in CT on saturday. We had an early Thanksgiving dinner with my grandparents on Sunday. Big gut busting meal number 1 for the trip.

On tuesday, we drove down to Crofton, MD. Its between Baltimore and DC. It was supposed to take about 6 hours but after several long food stops, it was a solid 7 hours before we got there.

In the next three days, I learned a little of what its like to care for two 3-year-olds. Wow. I slept well each night. Thankfully, I was able to avoid any diaper duty. : ) I stupidly started playing with the kids on their little trampoline. I was manually bouncing them, then lifting them up to the ceiling each time. They loved it. And they kept wanting more, only my muscles were disagreeing. I think it did a lot of good for my back though.

On thanksgiving, we had a big meal. I managed to eat two full plates of sweet potatoes, corn, stuffing, and cranberries. And then cake and pie. The three other adults present proceeded to crawl away and fall asleep- leaving me to watch the kids. It was fine though- everyone was well behaved and I was able to get some good photos then. Here are some of my favorites:

We left on friday and made it back to CT in about 6.5 hours this time. Unfortunately, Heather was in the middle of a cold she had caught from one of the kids. We stayed in that night and drove home to Maine early the next morning.

Overall, a great trip, great food, great people, too much driving, and too many leftovers still in our fridge, even though we didn't cook anything!
