2005 Maine Brewer's Festival

This was a good one for sure. After a couple of lower beer consumption festivals that past few years, I was back in full form.

I think it started with the right dinner.

Sebago Brewing Co. for dinner but... I didn't have a beer! That's right. The 'warm-up' is a lie. Don't do it. I stuck to whichever lemon-lime-ish flavored carbonated beverage they serve.

I had ravioli and a good number of french fries. Excellent beer absorbing foods.

We got in the festival and there's a wait before the taps open. We got a spot right at the front of the line for Geary's. I opened the night with a Hampshire Special Ale- a personal favorite and a potent brew at that.

We quickly moved from line to line, with barely enough time to finish one before getting the next. There were rumors that the brandishing of drink tickets was going to be strictly enforced this year. But, after some initial panic, we found ourselves getting plenty of drinks without any disposing of any tickets. I know I finished the night with half of my original 12 tickets.

This year, 'we' was comprised of myself, Kelly [woohoo! our 7th festival!], Jared, Elliot [fellow MeCA graphic design alum who came up from Boston], and Brent [friend of Jared's we met for the first time].

Highlights, in no particular order:

Jared won a free hat then proceeded to steal a t-shirt.

He also took a throw coaster off of the nose after bragging about how he started the coaster throwing tradition years before.

I managed to get the 'beer spill' on the front of my shirt, which is a spill wet spot that's long and vertical near the navel that's caused by having a belly that sticks out too much and too much to drink. This happened after I laughed at Jared for having one [again! -see the Octoberfest pics].

We saw a rather intoxicated man get handcuffed on the floor, all the while yelling Help Me!. It was just like Cops the TV show, but live. Everyone taking photos certainly added to that effect.

Jonathan decided not to try to get in after all. Definitely too bad, since he could have. There's always next year...

After crashing at Jared's, I awoke to a headache but nothing terrible. We had ordered a pizza at 1 AM that morning. And I did manage to get down at least 4 pints of water. I didn't really end up doing much that day though.

Anyway, there are some pics I took with my phone. Here are some taken with Brent's camera phone and Kelly's camera.
