Holidays 2005

It was a lot of work but a great time away from the job. Visiting the family had a few bumps but nothing terrible.

Heather and I hit the road for CT on Friday and a relatively uneventful drive. Actually, the biggest event was not stopping once for the restroom! Way to go Heather!

Christmas was good. Everyone complained but I got in several hours of A Christmas Story during the marathon. Mom had way more presents to open than everyone else but we all did well. I think the highlight was the potato gun which was repeatedly fired at my face. Thanks everyone! Love you too!

Dinner at my uncle's was great although the evening started with a bottle of ginger ale exploding all over me. Heather did well and made it through most of the main courses. She did tire before the final two though. Still, I think it her best showing yet.

On Monday, we tried visiting with Heather's sister but that got messed up due to the mall and the young kids. Then we tried visiting some other friends but some food Heather had eaten earlier didn't agree with her. It was an early night that night. On Tuesday, we went to see Pat at his place for a bit, then hit the road home.

We stopped at the NH Liquor Store to stock up for New Year's. We managed to get in under $200 which was great considering the 12 bottles of wine and various other liquors we bought.

Throughout the rest of the week we worked on the house and the furniture we bought from the Mill Store during their big sale.

For New Years, we ended up having a smaller party than we hoped for but it was a great time regardless. I don't have an photos of the event although I believe some were taken. I'll update if I get some.

The first days of the new year were spent getting back to reality- balancing the bank account being the biggest chore.

Anyway, on to the photos:

The current state of the bedroom. There's more painting to do, both of the trim and the furniture. The bed is on the floor until the bed frame is finished and assembled. There's still no trim along the floor.

Here's a reminder of what the bedroom looked like. Its certainly come a long way.

Here's the work on the new table, chairs, and bench. There's still more to do but not too much. The table and bench are already in use.

Finally, the updated living room with new paint, hung photos, and Heather's Christmas Village.
