The Art of the Mix Tape - 1/30/04
Or in this case, CD. While in a goodwill
store recently, I was flipping through the CD rack trying to find something
Heather and I could listen to while running errands for a while. Although it was
tough to find anything I'd even heard of, I managed to spot what appeared to be
a "Lynyrd Skynyrd - All Time Greatest Hits" disc. That would have been fun to
crank up in the wagon for a while.
But upon closer inspection, the disc was in fact
someone's homemade mix in a different
case.
I HAD to spend 99ยข on it.
We check out and I eagerly put the CD in. The player spits it back out. Uh-oh.
Heather tries cleaning it and we manage to get track two playing. Not bad.
Track three was something completely different, as were some of the other tracks. It turned to be a mix of light music and songs/tracks about penises.
I'm not joking.
The disc lasted the day right up until I sat for extra minute in the car in our driveway to hear the end of the last song. Perfect and well worth the buck.
So, here's the track listing from someone's random mix from late January, 2004.
01. Weezer - Holiday (Most of the track won't play since the disc is too scratched)
02. Cat Stevens - Trouble
03. Something from what sounds like a Stern-style radio show featuring a guy who sounds like he's inhaled helium talking like he's receiving fellatio on the air. (Yes, this came directly after Cat Stevens)
04. Foo Fighters - The One
05. Jack Johnson - Rodeo Clowns
06. Adam Sandler - Wasted
07. The Verve Pipe - Freshmen
08. Blink 182 - What's My Age Again?
09. David Allan Coe - Dear Penis
10. Jim Croce - Time in a Bottle (Yes, this came directly after a song called Dear Penis)
11. Dave Matthews Band - Long Black Veil (Live and poorly recorded)
12. John Mayer - Why Georgia Why
13. Norah Jones - Don't Know Why I Didn't Come
14. Soggy Bottom Boys - Man of Constant Sorrow
15. Track wouldn't play
16. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
17. Sublime - What I Got
18. U2 - I don't know the track. I hate u2 and just moved on.
19. Van Morrison - Into the Mystic
20. David Grohl - Tiny Dancer (Yes, the guy from Nirvana and Foo Fighters doing to a solo cover of Tiny Dancer live on some TV show. Terrible.)
21. David Allan Coe - Don't Bite The Dick
