The "It's Been a While" Post

I'll try to recap the summer.

August:

I had my first ace in disc golf. It was during a tournament and the director was photographing me at the time.

It was a 272 foot long Par 4. The shot looked long and left until it banked right in. The photos are of me throwing the ace and then retrieving the disc, a Z-Wildcat for anyone who knows disc types.

There were BBQs and my birthday, which involved losing the Heather in a Go-Kart race. A slower woman on the track got nervous, swerved right in front of my as I tried to pass her. I plowed into the guard rail and Heather took the lead for good. Next time I will have my revenge!

September:

The big event for September was Kelly and Jared's wedding. The only issue was that I was just getting over a cold and I starting coughing and sneezing during the ceremony. I was able to keep my dry throat nicely moisturized in beer the rest of the night.

Heather and I also went the Common Ground Fair for the first time in several years. There's a photo of me with a killer beast that I took with my phone. The weather was supposed to be bad but it actually held off and we had a great time. I got a beautiful handmade wooden cutting board and Heather bought some jewelry or something. The food is all organic which led to the logic that it's okay to jam your face with fried food since it's organic.

October:

Heather and I hosted a final BBQ and had a fair number of people over. We ended the night around the firepit, which we also used when we camped in the backyard earlier. I forgot to get the camera out, so you'll just have to imagine it. For the record, the vegetarian made some damn good burgers for everyone!

Mom, Pat and his girlfriend Mary visited (was that actually in September?) Anyway, they hit terrible traffic all weekend and the weather was iffy but it was still nice to see (and meet) everyone.

At the end of the month, Heather and I hit the road for Vermont to visit Rick and Kristin in their awesome new house. Other than almost driving off of their road on a very sharp turn while looking for house numbers in the dark, it was a great trip. They have amazing closet space and a wonderful view of the woods. They also have a library but not a butler.

In a related note to that trip, I finally gave in and purchased a new computer. My old one just wasn't keeping up and with the increased time I spend working from home and doing freelance work, I needed something new. Besides the speed issue, the old monitor had just died and one of the hard drives is crapping out. In Vermont, there's an Apple reseller who had refurbished laptops in stock. The price was great, especially for Apple, so I got one. I've been spending a lot of time setting up and transferring a ton of files and such. I've also got a proper backup system in place, since I almost lost data with the drive dying.

November:

Finally, the 12th Annual Brewer's Festival was Nov. 4th. Kelly and I (along with a a huge crowd of other drinkers) attended for the 7th straight year. I again didn't have my camera but did get some photos with my phone. It was a great time and having a large group was great. How we all managed to stay fairly close most of the night, I don't know. When I get a hold of more of the photos taken that night (with real cameras), I'll post them up here. Not surprisingly, they're a lot like all of the other photos ever taken at the event.

Upcoming:
Besides various holiday plans, Heather and I are getting married. It's on New Years and then we're off to Arizona and San Francisco for a couple of weeks. Then, hopefully in July or so, we're off to Alaska for two more weeks.

With the new computer, I'm finally able to make these posts from home and not work. I'm also able to more easily get my photos organized and therefore make these posts. I hope to be better about posting here on a regular basis. I feel there's so much in the past few months that I've left out and since this is as much a journal for me to refer back to as it is a way to keep people who I don't see often updated on what's going on, I'm kind of disappointed.

So, if anyone reading this wants to email me with a reminder of something I've left out, I'd really appreciate it.
