A Good, Long Weekend
Even though it was a normal weekend as far as
number of days, it was a long weekend by the end of
it.There are a few more photos from
the weekend on the Phone Photo
site.FRIDAYFriday
was the Grillin' 'n' Chillin' BBQ at Jonathan and Tia's. I made a flyer to email
around.One
major Bocce Ball advancement was made that night, with the introduction of a
light-up plastic ice cube to make night-time play more
possible.SATURDAYSaturday,
I was up early and out the door before 9 to pick up Kelly and drive to New
Hampshire. We spent 4 hours climbing up and 3 hours climbing down South
Baldface. It was hot, into the 80s, and the sun was out most of the time.
Despite the crowded parking lot, we saw very few other people and it was a great
hike. We both needed some training before Mt. Katahdin in a few weeks and this
mountain provided just that. It also gave me some areas to test my back while
scrambling over boulders. Glad to report my back performed at 100% operational
capacity.Snow on Mt.

Kearsarge as seen from Baldface. I confirmed with my binos- I could see the fire

finally, me, with a very tired looking
half-smileWe
stopped at the little store with the great food and Kelly ordered a BLT which
took forever to make. With the heat of the day, I think they had the grill off
and didn't have bacon pre-cooked. After about 10 minutes, I went and sat in the
car, chugging my
gatorade.SUNDAYSunday,
after a huge pancake breakfast with Kelly and Heather, Jonathan and I hit the
River. It took us a little over 4 hours to get to the car, much improved over
the 5 hours last year. The weather was perfect- some clouds came through but no
rain. The bugs were surprisingly absent. There were no issues with any boat this
time, although there wasn't anybody to watch jump off the train bridge
either. The view from the USS Ghetto
